Merchant Center feeds need specific, well-formed fields - title, price, availability, image link, and a handful of others - and a messy or inconsistent source export is a common reason a feed gets flagged with data-quality warnings. This tool’s standard export already gives you clean columns for most of it: title, price, availability, and image_src for the main image link.
One quality issue it solves without you thinking about it: a product titled starting with an equals sign or a plus sign is automatically escaped in the CSV, so it can’t get corrupted or misread while you’re editing the sheet before uploading to Merchant Center.
This export is a strong starting point, not a finished feed - Merchant Center also requires fields like GTIN or condition that aren’t part of Shopify’s public product data, so budget time to fill those in separately if your products need them.
Running a first export is also a fast way to spot which products are missing key details altogether - no image, no price, or a blank title - since those gaps are far easier to scan for in a spreadsheet column than by clicking through a storefront product by product.
