To clone a catalog between two Shopify stores, export the source store using the Shopify import CSV format above, then go to Settings → Products → Import on the destination store and upload the file. No app installation is needed on either store - just admin access to import on the destination.

What doesn’t come across automatically: exact inventory quantities (the public feed only exposes an available/unavailable flag, not stock counts - see what data is public), and anything tied to the store itself rather than the catalog, like discount codes, apps or theme settings.

Because the import lands as unpublished drafts, you can review pricing, images and descriptions on the new store before making anything live.

For a small catalog, this whole process - export, review, import - typically takes minutes rather than hours. For a large one, most of the remaining time goes into re-checking inventory numbers afterward, since that’s the one piece of data that has to be re-entered by hand on the destination store.
